The Prime Minister also interacted with the engineers, who are the brain behind the design of the building. Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla was also seen along with PM Modi during the visit.
The interior of the building seems to be completed with seats installed while the pictures showed some parts of the building that are still under construction.
Reportedly, the complex is a 64,500 square metre structure and the project is estimated to cost Rs 971 crore. The new Parliament complex will also have a Constitution Hall to showcase India’s democratic and constitutional values. The Parliament complex will include a lounge for Members of Parliament (MPs), a library, multiple committee rooms and dining areas.
This was not PM Modi’s first visit to the new Parliament, he laid the foundation stone back in 2020 and in September 2021, he visited the construction site and interacted with the workers. He also said that the old Parliament building fulfilled the needs of the country and that the new building will fulfill the aspirations.
