PM Modi praises CM Yogi for containing Covid-19 casualties, aptly handling migrants issue

At the virtual CMs meet, PM Modi lauded Yogi Adityanath govt for keeping check on Covid-19 casualities while also effectively handling migrants crisis despite UP being a populous state.

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday came in for an effusive praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the measures that the UP government undertook in minimizing the impact of Covid-19 pandemic as well handling the migrants crisis in a state as big as Uttar Pradesh.

PM Modi, during his meeting with the Chief Ministers through video conferencing, acknowledged the efforts CM Yogi and his team for taking proactive steps to reduce casualties in the state due to Covid. He lauded the Uttar Pradesh government for doing maximum number of tests i.e 1.50 lakh per day and having tested 90 lakh persons so far, again the highest in the country among all the states.

Reviewing Covid-19 situation in the country, PM Modi was in direct conversation with the Chief Ministers. He said the high tests by UP did manage to keep the Covid deaths to the minimum.

Prime Minister also complimented CM Yogi for adept handling of the migrants crisis while mentioning that in such a big state like Uttar Pradesh with the largest population in the country, the number of migrants were also on a very high side.

“Despite this, migrants were taken care of well in terms of food, housing and employment,” he pointed out.

In his address, UP CM Yogi Adityanath apprised PM Modi of the Covid-19 situation in the state and informed that out of about 1.50 tests per day, about 50,000 tests are by RTPCR method with a positivity rate of 4 per cent and overall recovery rate as high as 82 per cent. He also apprised the PM that at present, there are 121 government labs are testing samples, out of which in 44, the facilities of RTPCR testing is available. For prompt results, a total of 115 TruNAT machines are installed in District Hospitals and Medical Colleges, he informed. The UP Chief Minister said that his government, under the guidance of the Prime Minister, fought valiantly with Corona pandemic, laying emphasis on effective surveillance through about 70,000 monitoring committees, prompt contact tracing, setting up of over 64,000 Covid desks and the wide-spread mass awareness campaigns through various modes of media. He said the better management of health services and deployment of medical staff led to the recovery of about 3 lakh patients out of total of about 3.69 lakh cases.

CM Yogi said that the Integrated Command and Control Centres (ICCC) have been set up in all the districts from where communication between the health staff and the home isolated patients, admission of the serious patients to the hospitals and follow up of contact tracing is managed.

“Such a strong mechanism of surveillance has been established from September 1 to September 15, as many 1.36 lakh symptomatic patients were identified after a survey of about 2.99 crore houses,” the CM said.

The CM said that the state government successfully controlled the Covid situation in Noida and Ghaziabad by adopting the strategy suggested by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah for NCR. He said overall in the state, Covid death rate has come down considerably to 1.3 percent . He said that a total of 674 Dedicated Covid Hospitals are functional in the state with availability of over 1.50 lakh beds including over 7000 ICY+U beds. He also apprised that all 75 districts of the state have ventilators available with them.

Besides Covid, the state government has taken extra care to prevent various vecor diseases in the state . The two phases of Communicable Disease Control Drive have already taken place in the months of March and July while the third phase will take place next month. It is due to these precautionary measures that during the current month, the number of Encephalitis patients and the number of Encephalitis deaths have reduced by 41 percent and 50 percent respectively as compared to the corresponding period last year.

He also pointed out that in 2014, the JE deaths were 544 while this year , this figure is as low just 7. The CM said that his government has equally been active on the economic front and the revenue collection in August ,2020 stood at Rs 9545 crore as compared to Rs 8492 crore in August 2019. In addition to this, about 23.75 crore mandays were created, having over 95 lakh persons employed under MNREGS, the highest in the country. Over 51 lakh labouerrs are employed in more than 8 lakh functional units of MSME, he further said.
