Prophet Muhammad cartoon row: Protests in Bhopal, Mumbai & Aligarh against French President Macron (VIDEO)

Prophet Muhammad cartoon row: In Mumbai, a group of protestors pasted Macron’s posters on roads and walked on them to protest against French President’s remarks against Islamic extremism.

New Delhi: A day after three people were stabbed to death in Nice attack, France president Emmanuel Macron attributed the terror attack to ‘Islamic terror’ and declared that it will not give into Islamic fundamentalists.

However, his tough stance on Islamic radicalism has triggered protests in several cities of India. Thousands of Muslim protesters marched through the streets of Bhopal on Thursday to protest against Macron.

Rather, a Congress MLA Arif Masood led the protests to Iqbal Maidan in Bhopal city of Madhya Pradesh.

Speaking at the demonstration, Congress MLA Arif Masood demanded that the Union government ask the Indian Ambassador to France to register a protest against anti-Muslim stand of that country’s regime.

Taking strong exception to such illegal gathering of people, Madhya Pradesh chief minister has warned of action against those misleading people.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that a case will be registered against all including Congress leader Masood under 188 IPC (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).

Protest March in Aligarh

Protest marches were also held at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) against French President over his remarks on Islam and extremism amid terror attack in Nice, which left 3 killed.

AMU students shouted slogans against Macron while holding banners and called for a boycott of French products. The protesters also burnt posters of the French President.

Anti-Macron posters in Mumbai

In Mumbai, a group of protestors pasted Macron’s posters on roads and walked on them to protest against French President’s remarks against Islamic extremism.

French President Emmanuel Macron has called for the creation of a new strategic alliance among France, India and Australia to respond to challenges in the Asia-Pacific region and the growing assertiveness of China.

Commenting on the protests against Macron, Maulana Abbas Rizvi of Raza Academy said, “Muslims in Mumbai pasted Macron’s photographs on roads. People, cars, dogs, cats are walking over the posters. He must be punished like this only. I congratulate Mumbai for punishing this wrongdoer like this.”

Mumbai Police removed all anti-Macron posters that were pasted on Mohammed Ali Road under JJ flyover.

The protests in Mumbai, Bhopal and Aligarh against French President Emmanuel Macron sends a worrying signal as Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday expressed solidarity with France in wake of recent terror attacks.
