Protest intensifies in Bihar, residence of Deputy CM Renu Devi attacked (VIDEO)

The agitators have been unrelenting and even targeted the residence of Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Jasiwal in Bettiah. In the assault, one policeman deployed near his residence was also injured and hospitalised.

New Delhi: Bihar continues to be the epicentre of ‘Agnipath’ violence as hordes of agitators intensified their stir on 2nd consecutive day and targeted public properties including buses & trains. In latest incident of mob fury, a group of agitators attacked the residence of Bihar Deputy CM Renu Devi in Bettiah district.

“Our residence in Bettiah was attacked. We suffered a lot of damage. She (Renu Devi) is in Patna,” ANI reported quoting her son.

In the coalition governmnet of Bihar, Renu Devi is the Deputy CM from BJP.

The state is witnessing facing wave of violent protests, hours after Centre announced ‘Agnipath’ scheme to induct youths in all 3 wings of Armed Forces – Army, Navy & Air Force. Angry youth took to streets in Begusarai, Buxar, Lakhisarai & UP’s Balia district and unleashed mayhem.

Taking note of protests, the Centre has also tried to sooth the nerves by relaxing the upper age limit for ‘Agniveers’ who will shortlisted this year.

The rollback of the short-term recruitment scheme is the clear demand of agitators.

Bihar protests

The JD(U) sounding a discodant note on ‘Agnipath’ scheme has asked the Centre to review the scheme, saying that this has brough despair to youth than hope of better future. Party president Rajiv Ranjan Singh said that youth today are dissatisfied about bleak future and demanded that Centre must immediately withdraw this scheme.

Under the new scheme, the soldiers will be recruited for 4 years period. Out of total recruits, 75% will be relieved with a severance package of Rs 11.71 lakh while the rest 25% will be retained, preferably in paramilitary forces and Assam Rifles.
