Rakesh Tikait detained by Delhi police ahead of protest at Jantar Mantar

Farmer leader was entering the national capital in order to participate in the protest against the high rates of unemployment in the country

New Delhi: Rakesh Tikait was stopped at Ghazipur by the Delhi police and detained while on his way to Jantar Mantar on Sunday. The farmer leader was entering the national capital in order to participate in the protest against the high rates of unemployment in the country.

The latter was taken to the Madhu Vihar police station where he was requested to return back, told a Delhi police official.

“The Delhi Police working on the behest of the government cannot suppress the voice of the farmers. This arrest will bring a new revolution. This struggle will continue till the last breath”, Tikait said in a tweet.

In an another tweet, Tikait slammed the central government and said, “Modi government is determined to oppress and oppress the unemployed, youth, farmers and laborers. The fight for rights has to be prepared for a long struggle. At the behest of the Centre, the Delhi Police did not allow us to meet the unemployed youth”.

Previously, Rakesh Tikait had reached Lakhimpur Kheri and threatened the Yogi Adityanath government from the stage while addressing a rally. The farmer leader warned the state government to have ‘fix there mind’.
