Record 22 lakh jabs in a day: Uttar Pradesh becomes 1st state to clock 5 crore Covid vaccinations

The Uttar Pradesh government had set the target of vaccinating 1 crore people in one month in June, the target was achieved much before the end of the month.

New Delhi: Leading the fight against Covid-19 pandemic, Uttar Pradesh govt administered record 25 lakh vaccine jabs today, thus breaking the record earlier held by Madhya Pradesh of conducting maximum vaccinations in a day.

Madhya Pradesh had done nearly 17 lakh vaccinations in a single day in June.

With this remarkable feat, UP has become the first state ever to achieve milestone of administering 5 crore vaccines in total so far.

Taking to Twitter, UP CM Yogi Adityanath greeted the authorities and the people of the state for crossing the landmark of 22 lakh doses on Tuesday.
He also thanked PM Modi for his guidance.


He ended his post by reminding people that the Covid-19 vaccine is your only “Suraksha kawach” (safety shield) against the deadly pathogen, and urged everyone to take their jab “Tika jeet ka”, and help defeat Covid-19.

Yogi-led UP had overtaken Maharashtra last month in administered total jabs. Maharashtra administered a total of 4.5 crore jabs while UP has crossed an astronomical mark of 5 crore.

Uttar Pradesh has a population of nearly 23 crore. Only 81 lakh people in Uttar Pradesh are fully vaccinated with both doses while 4.3 crore have got the first dose of coronavirus vaccine. Nearly 2.4 crore jabs given in Uttar Pradesh are of the 18-44 age population.
