Republic Day 2023: Detachment of Brahmos of the 861 Missile Regiment, other weaponry at display at R-Day parade

The detachment of Brahmos of the 861 Missile Regiment and weaponry of Indian Armed Forces is at display at the parade.  

New Delhi: The Republic Day parade began at the Kartavya Path as President Droupadi Murmu unflured the tricolour and and began the ceremony. The detachment of Brahmos of the 861 Missile Regiment and weaponry of Indian Armed Forces is at display at the parade.

The Brahmos detachment was led by Lieutenant Prajjwal Kala as President Murmu offered a salute.

The weapon display began with the detachment of the Main Battle tank Arjun of 75 Armoured Regiment led by Captain Amanjeet Singh. Lt Siddhartha Tyagi led the NAG Missile System of 17 Mechanised Infantry Regiment and received a salute from the President.

The detachment of Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicle, led by Captain Naveen Dhatterwal of 3 Ladakh Scouts Regiment, marched at the Kartavya Path. The vehicle is designed for troops operating in Ladakh, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.

The Brahmos missile was followed by the AKASH weapon system of 27 Air Defence Missile Regiment of ‘the Amritsar Airfield’ led by Captain Sunil Dasharathe. Their march was accompanied by Lt Chetana Sharma of 512 Light AD Missile Regiment (SP).

President Droupadi Murmu commenced the celebrations for the first time since assuming office, by unfurling the national flag at Kartavya Path. There was a customary 21 Gun Salute and for the first time 105 mm Indian Field Guns were used for the custom. It replaced the vintage 25-pounder gun. The Gun Salute was presented by the Ceremonial Battery of 871 Field Regiment, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Vikas Kumar, SM, while Naib Subedar Anoop Singh was the Gun position officer.
