New Delhi: While the petitioners in the Gyanvapi mosque survey fight out the contrasting versions via court, a Samajwadi Party (SP) leader sought to spark panic in the minds of people by fearmongering on the whole controversy.
SP leader Shafiqur Rahman Barq said that what was happening in the Gyanvapi mosque will not be tolerated and claimed that hatred against Muslims will harm the country.
The Sambhal MP’s provocative remarks have drawn the ire of parties as well as people. While Hindu & Muslim sides have taken their arguments to court over the finding of Shivling inside the mosque complex, the SP leader chose to fearmonger over the controversy.
Speaking to reporters, Shafiqur Rahman said, “Whatever is happening in Gyanvapi Mosque will not be tolerated. It is a policy of the government and if this policy and hatred against Muslims continue, this will not harm us, but will also harm the country. We need to work towards the development of the country. Gyanvapi mosque was made years ago. The Shivling and all is nothing but false propaganda. We reject this claim. All Muslims should be ready and think for their further planning.”
Meanwhile, the findings of the Gyanvapi survey were submitted today by the court commissioner Vishal Singh.
‘Shivlinga’ discovered at Gyanvapi mosque
The three-day survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex concluded on May 16. And, according to the Hindu side, a Shivling was discovered at the wazukhana inside the mosque. The court subsequently ordered the sealing of premises where Shilvinga was found.
When Muslim side objected to this move in Supreme Court, they were allowed restricted access. The apex court directed the Varanasi DM to secure the area where Shivlinga was found while ensuring that Muslims have access to prayer area.
