New Delhi: After four days of hunt, politician Shrikant Tyagi accused of assaulting woman in a Noida housing society was nabbed by the Uttar Pradesh cops from Meerut. The ‘dabang’ politician carried Rs 25,000 award on his head and was on the run after abusing & threatening a woman in Grand Omaxe society in Sector 93 B. Tyagi describes himself as the national executive member of BJP’s Kisan Morcha however the party has denied any association with him.
Earlier in the day, Tyagi’s wife was also arrested by the cops. The police got a tip-off about him as he was constantly trying to reach her wife and seek legal help via her. However, the cops got the better of him and apprehended him when he landed in Meerut. The accused was repeatedly changing his location to avoid arrest.
A total of 4 people were arrested today by the UP’s Special Task Force (STF). Apart from Tyagi, three of his aides have also been held.
His arrest comes days after the bulldozer action on his illegal residential complex. Acting swiftly on the complaint of residents, the bulldozers got cracking and razed a portion of the illegal constructions at Grand Omaxe society, where he lived on the ground floor with wife & children.

On Monday, the police had arrested 6 of his supporters for trying to bully & browbeat the apartment residents. These hooligans had entered the residential society and were searching for the woman with whom the self-proclaimed politician got into fight with.
Shrikant Tyagi was booked by the Noida cops under Section 354 (amounting to outraging the modesty of woman/intent of action leading to violating the modesty of woman).
As a video of his altercation with the woman went viral on social media in which he was seen hurling expletives & also threatening the woman by shoving her. The video had sparked widespread anger with many netizens demanding his arrest for the grave offence.
