Smriti Irani sends legal notice to Congress leaders Pawan Khera, Jairam Ramesh over allegations against daughter

Congress has alleged that the family of the Union Minister runs the said bar in the state of Goa, which has committed a forgery

New Delhi: In recent controversy that erupted over Goa’s ‘Silly Souls Cafe and Bar’, Union Minister Smriti Irani has now hit back at the Congress. The latter has sent a legal notice to Congress for accusing her daughter 18-year-old daughter Joish Irani.

Congress has alleged that the family of the Union Minister runs the said bar in the state of Goa, which has committed a forgery to get a liquor license.

Irani has denied all the allegations, while her lawyer has sent notice to senior Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Kheda and Neta D’Souza on her behalf.

“She has sought a written and unconditional apology and withdrawal of the allegations with immediate effect”, news agency ANI reported.

What’s the controversy? 

The whole row came to the fore when the Excise Commissioner of Goa issued a show cause to ‘Silly Souls Cafe & Bar’ for defying the rules and procedures in order to get a liquor license.

The complaint of the complainant reportedly alleged that the liquor license was issued to the bar when it did not had a license to run the business. Congress also alleged that in June this year, the liquor license was renewed in the name of a person who had died in May itself.

Smriti Irani has demanded an unconditional apology from the Congress and its leaders in this matter within 24 hours. She has further asked to withdraw all allegations with immediate effect and remove all videos and posts spreading misleading information from social media.

If the notice recipients fails to fulfil the demands mentioned in the notice, Irani has vowed to take legal action against them.
