Sonia Gandhi lauds coronavirus warriors, urges people to follow lockdown rules

New Delhi: Post the dissent by ‘Group of 23’ in Congress, the party president Sonia Gandhi on Friday made ‘sweeping changes’ in the party structure.

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has been reconstituted with some new General Secretaries and In-charges of the states while veterans like Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambani Soni, Mallikarjun Kharge, Motilal Vohra have been relieved as party general secretaries.

Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s highest decision making body has been reconstituted with 22 members in total.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, one of the most vocal dissenters of the ‘letter-writing’ club lost out as the in-charge of Haryana. Former J&K CM has been replaced by Vivek Bansal as Haryana in-charge.

Former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal has been made AICC in charge of administration, replacing Motilal Vora.

Former Haryana MLA and AICC media in-charge Randeep Surjewala has been appointed as AICC General Secretary of Karnataka, while Rajeev Shukla has been appointed as the in-charge of Himachal.

Special Committee to assist Congress President

Congress President has also constituted a special committee to assist her in organizational as well as operational matters. She had expressed the desire for same in CWC meet held on August 24.
