Tackling UP floods: Over 5,000 boats, about 1,000 medial teams deployed; over 95,315 rations kits distributed

Over 66 teams, including those of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), SDRF and PAC to tackle the floods have been deployed in 42 districts of the state.

New Delhi: The state government is actively working to provide food grains to the people, taking them to safer locations and providing them with health care amenities in flood hit districts of Uttar Pradesh. Weighing the hardships of the flood affected people, CM Yogi has directed the officials to meet the needs of people and provide them with ration immediately.

To effectively execute the undergoing relief cum rescue operations, over 63 teams have been deployed in the state to carry out relief operations in flood-affected areas 24X7.

“The water levels of Rivers Rapti, Rohini, Kwano, Ghaghra and Sharda have increased. We have expedited relief and rescue operations on a war footing to prevent any loss of life and damage to property. We have deployed around 963 boats in the last 24 hours and a total of 5165 boats have been deployed so far amid the continuous downpour” informed Relief Commissioner Ranveer Prasad.

CM Yogi directs officials to meet needs of flood-affected people

To mitigate the impact of flood in affected villages the state government instructed the teams of NDRF, SDRF and disaster management to work round the clock in an active mode. Relief operations should not be delayed in areas affected by floods/excess rain.

Expediting the relief measures, around 938 medical teams have been set up. The government is providing ample supply of drinking water, dry food packets and medicines, clothes, utensils and bedding among others amid adherence to Covid protocol.

Virus kits and iron tablets to protect people from water-borne diseases

More than 95,315 dry ration kits have been distributed by the government so far, while 5397 people have been distributed dry ration kits in the last 24 hours. The state government has distributed 4,05,904 lunch packets to the affected people till now. In the last 24 hours itself, 20,804 lunch packets have been distributed.

Hyderabad floods - NDRF rescue

Along with this, for the protection of animals along with human life the government has provided around 7,144 quintals of animal fodder. Over 85 quintals of fodder was distributed in the last 24 hours.

Protecting people from water borne diseases, the government is also distributing virus kits and iron tablets to the people, said Ranveer Prasad.
