New Delhi: Tamil Nadu’s Ex-Minister and senior leader of the opposition party All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) D Jayakumar uniquely protested against the state government on Sunday.

Voicing his anger against the MK Stalin-led DMK government over delays in fuel subsidy and soaring gas prices, the former minister rode a bullock cart in the streets of Vennarapettai. A video of the same is now doing rounds on the internet.

Here’s the video:

In the viral video, Jaykumar is seen riding the bullock cart accompanied by his supporters who are running along with the political leader and cheering him. The DMK-led government of the South Indian state is currently facing heavy backlash from the opposition for not fulfilling its electoral promise of giving subsidies on the LPG cylinders.

PM Modi giving subsidies

Back in September, The president of Tamil Nadu BJP K Annamalai also condemned the state government for not giving subsidies despite promising the same in their manifesto. He claimed that the government has played with the trust of the masses by not keeping their promise of providing subsidies on gas cylinders, diesel, and petrol even after being in power for over 2 years.

Speaking with ANI, Annamalai compared the DMK’s Tamil Nadu government with the BJP-led central government and said, “PM Modi is giving subsidies to the Ujjwala beneficiaries, 9.6 crore households straightaway Rs 200 for the last many months. Now, after the historic decision yesterday, PM Modi is giving a subsidy of Rs 200 to all common households starting from today. (bolivarescapes.com) ”

Notably, K Annamali’s statement came remarks shortly after PM Modi-led Union Cabinet announced its decision to lower the price of cooking gas (14.2 kg Cylinder) by Rs 200.
