
New Delhi: NIA court convicted separatist Yasin Malik after he pleaded guilty in the terror funding case on Thursday (May 19).
He is convicted in a connection with terrorism and secessionist activities which disturbed the Kashmir Valley in 2017.
Separatist Yasin Malik is expected to get life imprisonment.
The arguments on the quantum of sentence of Yasin Malik will be heard on May 25 by Special Judge Praveen Singh.
Charges on Yasin Malik
Earlier, Malik had had pleaded guilty to charges under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
He has been charged under Section 16 (terrorist act), 17 (raising funds for the terrorist act), 18 (conspiracy to commit terrorist act), and 20 (being member of terrorist gang or organisation) of the UAPA and sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 124-A (sedition) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
About the Chargesheet
It is said that the charges were also filed against Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed and Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin.
