The Kashmir Files has a grand opening at Box Office, mints Rs 3.55 crore on Day 1

On Day 1 of its release, the movie collected a sum of Rs 3.55 crore despite opening in less number of screens and is also going strong during the weekend. The movie is a true story based on the lives of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990s during the Kashmir insurgency.

New Delhi: The Kashmir Files, movie which has been in the eye of storm, registered a magnificent opening by amassing Rs 3.55 crore on first day of hitting the theatres.

The movie has been in the crosshairs of critics for controversial depiction of atrocities on Kashmiri Pandits during 1990s, a charge strongly refuted by director Vivek Agnihotri. The movie released as per its schedule on March 11 but in between it faced multiple hiccups including legal barriers.

On Day 1 of its release, the movie collected a sum of Rs 3.55 crore despite opening in less number of screens and is also going strong during the weekend. The movie is a true story based on the lives of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990s during the Kashmir insurgency.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#TheKashmirFiles springs a BIGGG SURPRISE on Day 1 Despite limited showcasing [630+ screens], the film goes from strength to strength during the course of the day Evening and night shows EXTRAORDINARY SOLID GROWTH on Day 2 and 3 is a surety Fri 3.55 cr. #India biz (sic).”

The film is produced by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Agnihotri under the Zee Studios, IAmBuddha and Abhishek Agarwal Arts banners.

Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher and Pallavi Joshi are among the lead star cast of the movie.
