He said he went to Pakistan with the help of Kashmir Liberation Front (KLF) area commander Ishfaq Majeed and took a 32-day training there to take revenge.
In an interview with a leading news channel in 1991, he admitted to killing ”more than 20” Kashmiri Pandits. He was also dubbed the ”Butcher of Pandits”. He also went on to become the top hitman of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) before being arrested in June 1990.

Notably, Bitta Karate spent 16 years in jail and was released on bail in 2006. The order of his release came from the Supreme Court of India. The court gave Karate bail under the Public Safety Act (PSA). After his release, a JKLF fraction welcomed him by showering flower petals.
Currently, the mass-murderer is in NIA custody since 2019 on charges of terror funding. He was sent into custody after the Pulwama attack. The government also banned the JKLF.
