UP: 7 booked for raising pro-Pak slogans after India’s defeat in T20 match

Charges have been levelled against under several sections, including 504/506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 66 (F) of the Information Technology Act.

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh police has booked seven persons from 5 districts of the state for raising pro-Pakistan slogans after India’s defeat in the T20 World Cup match on Sunday.

4 people have also been taken into custody for celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India in the T20 match on October 24.

Pakistan had won the match by defeating India by 10 wickets.

According to a TOI report, 3 Kashmiri students in Agra engineering college have been booked by the police after a BJP leader lodged a complaint against them for raising pro-Pakistan slogans and also sharing distasteful posts on social media.

Taking tough action for anti-national activity, the UP Police has lodged FIR against them. Charges have been levelled against under several sections, including 504/506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 66 (F) of the Information Technology Act.

In Kashmir, six people were detained by Jammu and Kashmir police after a video purportedly showing objectionable slogans went viral on social media. In the video, several people could be seen raising slogans in Samba district, following the T20 World Cup match. The video had triggered widespread protests by various social organisation in Samba district.
