UP elections 2022: AAP candidate tries to suicide after his poll nomination papers got rejected

According to official sources, Singh’s nomination paper was rejected by Returning Officer Jayender Kumar owing to some crucial omissions in filling it.

New Delhi: Joginder Singh, an AAP candidate for the Miranpur assembly seat allegedly poured kerosene oil over his clothes to sacrifice himself in front of the district collectorate office on Monday due to the rejection of his poll nomination paper by the returning officer, stated police.

However, the police managed to resist him from committing alleged suicide by dominating him and stopping him from lighting the matchstick.

Following his failed suicide attempt, Singh sat at dharna before the district magistrate’s office, stating that he was not given the chance to rectify his mistake in filling his nomination paper.

According to official sources, Singh’s nomination paper was rejected by Returning Officer Jayender Kumar owing to some crucial omissions in filling it.

Singh who is a former serviceman has filed his papers as an Aam Aadmi Party candidate for the Miranpur (Meerapur) assembly seat in the Muzaffarnagar district.
