UP Govt makes budgetary provision worth Rs 2260 crores to strengthen Police dept

Rs 850 crore given for Police Commissionerate Office

Crime control continues to be one of the priority areas of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the allocation of Rs 2260 crores for the strengthening of the Police force of the state in 2023-2025 budget is yet another proof of this. The budgetary allocation is aimed at strengthening the state’s law and order system by strengthening the police force by providing accommodation facility for police officers and employees on the one hand and allowing commissionerate offices to operate on their own lands.

After Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assumed control of the state, the strongest measures are being implemented in the state under the zero-tolerance policy towards crime and criminals. Due to this, Uttar Pradesh is now praised for its effective law and order system both nationally and globally. Because the state has established the rule of law, not only domestic but also foreign investors are becoming interested in establishing industries.

Rs 850 crore given for Police Commissionerate Office

In his budget speech, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna stated that the Yogi government’s top priorities include ensuring the safety of the state’s 25 crore citizens, addressing upcoming problems in the area of law and order, and strengthening and modernising the police force.

Along with this, the Yogi government is constantly trying to provide a safe environment to women and weaker sections of society by taking effective action to control crimes against them. Under this, the police commissionerate system has been implemented in different cities of the state, he said.

In the budget for the financial year 2023-24, Rs 850 crore has been proposed for the arrangement of the newly created Police Commissionerate’s office and non-residential buildings etc. With this, the Police Commissionerate system implemented in various cities will gain momentum.

With this amount, police departments will be able to construct offices on their own land in cities with police commissionerate systems instead of renting space as they do now. They will be able to use this amount for the construction of offices and other facilities as per his requirements.

1400 crore given for housing facility

The Yogi government has given the largest amount in the budget for the year 2023-24 to the police department for residential facilities so that the officers and employees of the police department posted in different cities of the state do not have to wander here and there for accommodation.

The Yogi government has allocated an amount of 1,000 crore rupees to the Police department for residential facilities. With this, the Police department will be able to construct modern housing for its officers and employees in different cities.

At the same time, an arrangement worth Rs 400 crore has been made for housing facilities in urban areas. A provision of Rs 10 crore has been made for the purchase of new vehicles in order to strengthen the SDRF(State Disaster Response Force).

Key points:-

There has been a decrease of 79.83 percent in cases of dacoity, 63.49 percent in robbery, 33.89 percent in murder, 53.22 percent in riots, 17.22 percent in theft and 44 percent in kidnapping for ransom from January 2022 to November 2022, compared to the year 2016.

There has been a decrease of 15.81 percent in dowry deaths, 21.24 percent in rape, and 9.17 percent in kidnapping in crimes against women during the said period.

3,41,236 complaints related to illegal encroachment have been received on the anti-land mafia portal in the state, out of which 3,39,552 have been resolved. Under the campaign, a total area of 68,841.03 hectares has been freed from illegal encroachment.

23,920 revenue cases, 923 civil cases and 4504 FIRs have been registered. 776 encroachers have been identified as land mafia, currently 189 land mafia are lodged in jail.

For the prevention of cybercrime, cybercrime police stations have been established in each zone of the state. Cyber help desks (1531) have been established in all the police stations of the state. Basic cyber forensic labs are being set up at regional headquarters and advanced digital cyber forensic labs at police headquarters.

Financial aid of 17 crore 96 lakh to the dependents of 73 martyrs/deceased personnel who died while serving in the Central Para Military Forces/Para Military Forces of other states or the Indian Army, and the natives of the state of Uttar Pradesh who died in the line of duty have been provided.
