US-Iran tension: Indian Navy deploys warships in Gulf region, to be on standby for any evacuation

The Navy currently has a warship , 4,000-tonne stealth frigate INS Trikand, deployed in Gulf of Oman as part of ongoing operation – ‘Operation Sankalp’.

New Delhi: Amid escalating tension in the Gulf region over US-Iran face-off, the Indian Navy said that they are monitoring the situation and are fully prepared to ensure the security of sea-borne trade and the safety of Indian vessels.

The Navy is also on standby to deploy warships for emergency evacuation of Indians in case of emergent situation.

 

INS Trikand -

The Navy currently has a warship , 4,000-tonne stealth frigate INS Trikand, deployed in Gulf of Oman as part of ongoing operation – ‘Operation Sankalp’.

“Indian Navy continues to monitor the situation in the Gulf region and is maintaining presence in the region to ensure security of our sea-borne trade and the safety of Indian Flag Merchant Vessels transiting through the region,” it said in a statement.

“The Indian Navy stands committed to protection of the nation’s maritime interests,” the Navy added.
