Uttar Pradesh govt declares ‘The Kerala Story’ tax-free, after Madhya Pradesh

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, may watch the movie with members of his cabinet in a special screening that will be held at Lok Bhawan, according to the chief minister’s secretariat.

New Delhi: According to chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s announcement on Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh government will declare the recently released movie “The Kerala Story” to be tax-free in the state.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, may watch the movie with members of his cabinet in a special screening that will be held at Lok Bhawan, according to the chief minister’s secretariat.

The UP CM had previously attended a special screening of the Akshay Kumar film “Samrat Prithviraj” after the state had made the film tax-free.

Raghvendra Mishra, the UP BJP secretary, recently presented the movie to 100 female students in Lucknow. After Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh is now the second state to declare the contentious movie “tax-free.”

“It was an excellent decision to make The Kerala Story’ tax-free. I want the people of Uttar Pradesh to see this movie and realize what our women have gone through. We will also go see the movie. The people of West Bengal will not accept the film’s ban,” declared UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has supported the movie, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned it during a campaign event in Karnataka. At a campaign gathering last week in Ballari, Modi said that the Congress party is currently attempting to outlaw the movie and is backing the terrorist elements.

The movie, which portrays the coercive conversion of females before to their recruitment by the terrorist organisation Islamic State, has already sparked a political uproar across the nation. The Sudipto Sen-directed film was outlawed on Monday by the West Bengal administration.
