Viral Video: Drunk Man grabs girl from behind, molests her openly in Kanpur, UP Police initiate Probe

When the lady tried to fight back, he threw her on the ground & attempted to molest her.

New Delhi: A Kanpur woman faced brutal assault at the hands of a drunken man in the Rawatpur area on Tuesday.

According to the reports, the incident unfolded on 14th May at around 8 PM when the lady was peacefully walking home after purchasing groceries from the market.

However, as soon as she passed by a liquor shop in the locality, an alcoholic maniac spotted her & started chasing after her quietly.

Eventually, he caught her from behind & tried to cover her mouth. When the lady tried to fight back, he threw her on the ground & attempted to molest her.

Luckily, the lady’s cry for help attracted the attention of several locals & passersby who then gathered on the spot, causing the accused to abandon his assault & flee from the scene.

A nearby installed  Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera captured the alarming footage of the entire crime which later also went viral on social media.

As the viral video did rounds on social media, concerned netizens took to the comment section to share their reaction to the incident.

While some questioned the government’s measures for ensuring women’s safety, others demanded strict punishment for the accused.

One user wrote, “Women’s safety is a joke these days. This is so sad and heartbreaking.” Another added, “It seems he tried to snatch something, but couldn’t do it.” A third one said, “Shocking goons should not be left free.”

Police Nabs 5 Suspects

Soon after the incident, the police DCP Vijay Dhul arrived at the crime scene to gather the video evidence against the culprit recorded by the surveillance cameras installed on the location.

Later in a statement, the DCP also informed that police have already registered an FIR in the matter and are currently interrogating 5 suspects based on video evidence. He further assured that the authorities will arrest the culprit as soon as possible.
