W. Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee extends support to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal against Centre’s ordinance

Mamata Banerjee urged all the opposition parties to unite against BJP and came forward to support CM Kejriwal.

New Delhi: Delhi CM and AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal along with Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann met West Bengal CM and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee. CM Kejriwal asked Mamata Banerjee for her support against the Centre’s ordinance turning Supreme Court’s decision giving powers to the Delhi government to transfer government officers. The West Bengal Chief Minister extended her support to the Delhi government.

Mamata Banerjee urged all the opposition parties to unite against BJP and came forward to support CM Kejriwal. She asked non-BJP parties to stand together and not let even a single vote go in the favour of the BJP. She pointed out the problems caused by governors in the states and also targeted the Centre on RBI’s decision to withdraw Rs 2000 banknotes.

Delhi CM Kejriwal also pointed out the timing of the ordinance just after the apex court’s decision and on the day when SC went on vacation. He said that if the SC have not gone on vacation, the Delhi government would have got the stay on the ordinance on the same day. He also highlighted the tussle between governments and governors in non-BJP-ruled states.

Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann chaired a meeting with Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal to discuss the opposition’s unity. Earlier, CM Kejriwal also met Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to gain his support against the ordinance. He has also met Uddhav Thackeray and NCP Sharad Pawar to garner support.

While SC gave the right to transfer bureaucrats in the national capital territory to the Delhi government, the ordinance has kept the last say with the Lieutenant Governor.
