Watch: Madhya Pradesh official caught swallowing bribe money to avoid arrest

The incident unfolded on Monday when patwari Gajendra Singh received Rs 5,000 as a bribe in his private office as part of a trap set by the Lokayukta’s Special Police Establishment (SPE).

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, an official from the revenue department in Madhya Pradesh’s Katni was caught on camera swallowing the bribe money he had demanded from a complainant.

The incident unfolded on Monday when patwari Gajendra Singh received Rs 5,000 as a bribe in his private office as part of a trap set by the Lokayukta’s Special Police Establishment (SPE).

The patwari had allegedly demanded money from a man in Barkheda village to settle a property dispute. However, little did he know that the SPE team was closely monitoring the transaction. As soon as he spotted the team, Singh attempted to dispose of the evidence by swallowing the money. He was later rushed to a hospital, where doctors confirmed his well-being.

SPE Superintendent of Police Sanjay Sahu stated that a case has been registered against the official, and further investigation is underway.

In another bribery case in Delhi, two head constables from the Delhi Police were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after being accused of demanding a bribe. The complainant, an e-rickshaw charging shop operator in Mangolpuri, alleged that Head Constable Bhim from the Mangolpuri police station threatened to disrupt their business operations and confiscate e-rickshaws unless a bribe of Rs 50,000 was paid for granting permission to park and charge e-rickshaws in front of the shop.

Acting swiftly, the CBI set up a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe. The entire incident was captured on CCTV footage from a camera installed outside the police station.

These incidents highlight the ongoing battle against corruption and the efforts being made to curb such unethical practices in government departments.
