Who is Brajesh Pathak, Deputy CM in Yogi Adityanath 2.0 cabinet

New Delhi: The oath-taking ceremony of  Yogi Adityanath and other leaders for the new Uttar Pradesh cabinet was completed on Friday. The ceremony was held in Lucknow’s Ekana International Cricket Stadium.

In the capital, the Chief Minister of BJP ruling states such as Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, and Manipur participated in the event.

In the new cabinet of CM Yogi, there will be 52 ministers. The biggest development was seen for the post of Deputy Chief Ministers. Former Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya retained his post. However, Dinesh Sharma will be replaced by Brajesh Pathak. Brajesh Pathak is going to become the new deputy CM in the Yogi government.

Who is Brajesh Pathak?

Brajesh Pathak is a 57-year-old leader and a popular Brahmin face in Uttar Pradesh. On the BJP ticket, he contested the election from Lucknow Cantt seat against Samajwadi Party leader Surendra Singh. He won the seat by defeating Singh. He got 1,08,147 votes.

Pathak was born Hardoi’s Mallawan to Suresh Pathak on June 25, 1964. He is a lawyer by profession. He completed his Bachelor of Law (LLB) from Lucknow University.

Brajesh Pathak started his political career from the Congrees in the early 90s. In 2002, Pathak fought his first election on the Congress’ ticket from Mallawan but lost to the BSP candidate. Later, he joined BSP. On the BSP ticket, he won two consecutive Lok Sabha elections from Unnao in 2004 and 2009.

Ahead of the 2017 UP assembly election, he joined BJP in the presence of Union home minister Amit Shah and other senior party leaders.

In 2017, he contest the election from Lucknow Central constituency and conquered SP rival, Ravidas Mehrotra.
