Yes Bank scam: ED attaches assets worth Rs 2,200 crore of Rana Kapoor & Wadhawans

Rana Kapoor’s properties worth around ₹1,100 crore, including a bungalow at Mumbai’s Peddar Road, 6 flats at Mumbai’s plush Malabar Hill locality, ₹48-crore property at Delhi’s coveted Amrita Shergill Marg, said reports.

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday attached assets worth Rs 2,200 crore of Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor and Diwan Housing Finance Limited (DHFL) promoters Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawans.

The present market value of these assets is more than Rs 2800 Crore and include immovable properties in India and abroad, bank accounts, investments, luxury vehicles etc.

The investigative agency has attached Kapoor’s properties worth around ₹1,100 crore, including a bungalow at Mumbai’s Peddar Road, six flats at Mumbai’s plush Malabar Hill locality, ₹48-crore property at Delhi’s coveted Amrita Shergill Marg. Also attached are a property in New York, two in London, a commercial property in Australia and five luxury cars. Kapoor and his family members own these properties.

Rana Kapoor has protection from arrest till July 11

Last week, a special court in Mumbai granted interim protection from arrest till July 11 to Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor in a case registered against him by the CBI for allegedly obtaining illegal gratification from a realty firm.

ED has alleged that he had purchased properties with the money that was a part of the kickbacks given by companies given in exchange for massive loans.
