Yogi govt giving makeover to pilgrimage spots to boost religious & spiritual tourism

New Delhi: To transform Uttar Pradesh into a ‘hub’ of religious and spiritual tourism, the Uttar Pradesh government is working with a 360-degree approach. The government is not only engaged in construction of new religious sites but also is working to revamp the prominent pilgrim spots including Chitrakoot and Vindhyachal.

Pushing for the integrated development of the entire state, the Yogi government in the span of the last four and half years has worked to equip famous religious sites including Lord Ram’s ‘Taposthali’ (the site for meditation) Chitrakoot, Naimisharanya as well as the Shakti Peetha at Vindhyachal with advanced facilities for the convenience of the devotees.

For site development and beautification of the religious places, the premises of the temples have been renovated and redeveloped with proper roads, parking facilities and have been equipped with adequate sanitation facilities and strict security measures. In addition to the ropeway services at Chitrakoot Dham, Vindhyachal, the construction work of the ropeway is also progressing rapidly in Barsana, Mathura. Besides, facilities for tourists are being upgraded and developed in Agra and Fatehpur Sikri under Jain and Sufi circuits.

In a first, the state government also constituted Naimisharanya Teerth Kshetra Vikas Parishad, Chitrakoot Teerth Kshetra Vikas Parishad and Devipatan Teerth Vikas Parishad to enhance the tourism potential of the respective places.

In addition, the government is also working to boost the local economy and economically empower the local businesses and the youth.
Besides, the state government’s new exercise to classify tourism in Uttar Pradesh based on the identification of various circuits including the Ramayana circuit, Braj circuit, Mahabharat circuit, Shaktipeeth circuit, Adhyatmik circuit, Jain circuit and Buddhist circuit, is yielding conferring results as it is automatically attracting domestic as well as foreign tourists.

It is noteworthy that due to the neglect of the previous governments, despite having immense potential, the state failed to develop as one of the major tourist attractions, however, as a result of the Yogi government’s organised efforts to help tourism grow and thrive in the state, every district is being developed.
