Yogi govt readies plan to tackle 3rd Covid wave: PICUs in every CHCs, para-medics training from June 1

UP govt gets proactive for 3rd Covid wave: 100- bed capacity Pediatric Intensive Care Units are being set up in every medical college of the state.

New Delhi: Amid the spectre of third COVID-19 wave, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made all the arrangements beforehand to combat the situation. Adopting the proactive policy, 100- bed capacity Pediatric Intensive Care Units are being set up in every medical college of the state.

One PICU is established in KGMU while work for another PICU is in progress, which is being reviewed on a daily basis. Along with the establishment of PICU wards, a phased training programme of pediatricians, anesthetics, technicians and para-medical staff will be conducted from June 1, 2021 under the guidance of SGPGI Lucknow.

The CM while addressing a high level meeting said, “Along with the virtual, physical training should also be arranged for more and more doctors and paramedical staff.”

Mini PICU To Be Established At Every CHC

The CM said as with the system of mini PICU at the CHCs and PICUs at medical colleges and district hospitals is found to be useful in protecting children from encephalitis and other vector-borne diseases, similarly, at this time of crisis, the facility of mini PICU will help in controlling the third wave of COVID-19.

As children are feared to be more affected by the COVID-19 third wave, the Yogi Government said that the medicine kit will be arranged and distributed soon.

Separate Ambulance For Children

CM Yogi, while addressing a high level meeting, asked his officials to ensure sufficient availability of medical aids required for the treatment of COVID-19. He has also ensured the arrangement of separate ambulances for children.

Sparing no efforts to make sure all arrangements have been made, especially for children, so they do not fall short of good treatment, the Yogi Government has formed a committee of expert doctors which is being headed by the Director of PGI, Lucknow.

On the suggestions of the committee, it has been decided at the government level that in the first phase, PICU wards will be set up in all medical colleges, medical institutions, and universities of the Department of Medical Education.
