Yogi govt steps up fight against Covid-19, leaves behind Delhi & Maharashtra in conducting tests

In the wake of surge in fresh Coronavirus cases, Yogi government has rolled out a detailed action plan to take on the pandemic and control its spread.

New Delhi: Following a surge in novel Coronavirus cases in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government has accelerated sample testing and rolled out several measures to contain the spread of deadly virus.

It’s the sincere endeavour of state government and efficacy of officials as the state significantly ramped up testing in last 2 weeks and has even surpassed Delhi and Maharashtra, two states with high caseloads.

The top states to have conducted highest tests in last 2 weeks include Tamil Nadu, Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Delhi.

With 4 lakh tests in 2 weeks, UP sets new record

Initially, the UP government received flak for low testing rate but in last few weeks, there has been a sharp turnaround. Till date, there have been 47,000 confirmed Coronavirus cases in the state, with positivity rate of 4%.

Though the Corona transmission rate has been slow, the scaling up of testing is a good news. In last two weeks (July 2 – July 15), UP has conducted 4 lakh tests.

Yogi govt’s action plan to tackle Covid-19

Across the state, both RT-PCR and antigen tests are being done along with the widespread use of TrueNat machines.

The state government is also setting up integrated Command and Control Centres (ICCC) in each districts for surveillance of Covid-19 patients. It has also launched door-to-door campaign to scan and detect the Corona patients.

Yogi govt has also directed officials to set up Coronavirus help desks in all police stations, hospitals and govt offices, jails and courts to effectively rule out its spread.

Maha, Delhi & Tamil Nadu worst-hit by virus

Till date, Maharashtra and Delhi remained the worst affected states by Coronavirus, with around 3 lakh and 1.25 cases respectively. In Maharashtra, 3.89 lakh samples have been tested till now while in Delhi, 1.63 lakh samples have been tested.

Other hardly hit states include Tamil Nadu with 1.66 lakh cases and Karnataka with 59,000 cases. Uttar Pradesh, despite among the most populous has relatively managed to put curbs on the spread of virus.
