Yogi govt’s pro-farmer policies yield results; chillies, tomatoes exported abroad from UP’s Ghazipur

Because of UP govt’s pro-agri policies, Ghazipur farmers witnessed good produce and exported 30 metric tonnes of green chilies and tomatoes from Ghazipur to Bangladesh and Nepal.

New Delhi: Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the pro-farmer policies of Yogi Adityanath is yielding results. At a time, when livelihood of people have been severely impacted, the farmers in Ghazipur set a new precedent by exporting exporting 30 metric tonnes of green chilies and tomatoes abroad.

CM Yogi’s emphasis on strengthening the FPOs coupled with other pro-farmer policies towards doubling their income has brought about significant achievements in terms of exports of agri-produce.

Because of state govt’s pro-agri policies, Ghazipur farmers witnessed good produce and exported 30 metric tonnes of green chilies and tomatoes from Ghazipur to Bangladesh and Nepal.

As many as 1,500 farmers from Patal Ganga and adjoining areas of Ghazipur district are earning adequate money through their hard work.

Regional in-charge of Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Dr. CB Singh said, “The soil of the Ganges-Doab region is very fertile which helps farmers to produce vegetables without chemical fertilizers that are further exported to different countries. Along with being hard-working, the farmers are also relying on the policies of the government as a result of which the vegetables from this region are being exported abroad today.”

Many farmers are now emphasising on banana cultivation along with vegetables. In this area, tomato cultivation of good quality is also being adopted on a large scale.

The government is pushing the farmers to perform different types of farming skills along with traditional farming so that they can earn more and more money.

There has been a considerable rise in standard of living as farmers are benefitting from pro-farmer schemes of the state government.
