
New Delhi: The craft of a weaver named Nalla Vijay is winning hearts all over the net. Nalla Vijay is a weaver from Telangana has made a 5.5 meters saree that can fit entirely in a matchbox. The handwoven saree has been made of natural silk and natural dyes made of vegetables are used for its colour. Besides, the saree has all the quality and features that can be seen in any other ordinary sarees.
The saree was presented before Telangana Ministers KT Rama Rao, V Srinivas Goud, P Sabitha Indrareddy, and Errabelli Dayakar Rao on January 11 in Hyderabad. The saree was also gifted to Sabitha Indrareddy. Vijay in 2017 displayed the saree at World Telugu Conference. Also, he gifted a saree made of superfine silk to the then US President Barack Obama’s wife Michelle Obama, when the couple visited India in 2015.
Minister for IT, Industries, MA & UD, Telangana shared the masterful weaving of Vijay on the micro-blogging site along with sharing some pictures of the event. The translated caption read, “Nalla Vijay, a young leader of Sirisilla weaving a sari caught in a match, displayed his sari in Hyderabad today in the presence of ministers KT Rama Rao, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, V Srinivas Goud, and P Sabitha Indrareddy. The ministers congratulated Vijay on seeing this wonderful saree.”

Nalla Vijay hailed from Rajanna Sircilla district notified that to weave such a saree with hands, around six days are taken and it costs Rs 12,000. However, if the saree is weaved on the machine, it takes around three days and costs Rs 8,000. He also stated that weavers in the Sircilla have seen many changes and are adapting to the latest technology and modern tools.
