After a drunken party in Surat, friends put a steel glass inside a man’s rectum; physicians removed it ten days later

Some claimed that the removal of the glass took 2.5 hours. The patient’s condition is getting better, and the doctor indicated he will be kept under surveillance for four to five days.

New Delhi: In Odisha, medical professionals at a government-run hospital were able to effectively remove a steel glass from a man’s rectum. After a drinking party in Surat, Gujarat, where alcohol consumption is prohibited, one of Krushna Chandra Rout’s pals placed the steel glass into her anus about ten days ago.

In addition to experiencing severe stomach discomfort, he kept it a secret from everyone—not even his friends—because of the stigma. Krushna, who worked at a textile mill in Surat, chose to return to his hometown of Balipadar in the Buguda block, around 140 km southwest of Bhubaneswar, rather than receive treatment there. Since the incident, Krushna’s stomach began to expand and he has been unable to urinate. As he continued to consider his predicament, his family members hurried him to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhanpur. According to surgery department assistant professor Sanjit Nayak, Krushna didn’t mention the glass being inside his rectum (sigmoid colon) during the consultation and didn’t until an X-ray confirmed it.

According to surgery department professor Charan Panda, since his health was so critical, we assembled a team of medical professionals to perform surgery on the same day in order to recover the glass.

He also said that, the surgeons initially attempted to remove the glass through an anus but ultimately decided to perform a laparotomy, or abdominal incision, by colostomy due to the risk of infection from a potential anus rupture. Some claimed that the removal of the glass took 2.5 hours. The patient’s condition is getting better, and the doctor indicated he will be kept under surveillance for four to five days.

He was given a colostomy sheet, which will remain on him for a few more days in case of defection. He’s not currently experiencing any form of urinary issue, however.
