Omicron subvariants BA.4, BA.5: Check symptoms and other details here

Omicron’s subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 is associated with South Africa’s fifth wave and recently the case has been reported from the US and Europe.

New Delhi: The Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) have confirmed the detection of Omicron’s subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 of the coronavirus in the country on Sunday (May 22).

The first case has been detected in Tamil Nadu and the other in Telangana.

Last week, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) designated the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants as variants of concern (VOC).

They said that this could result to increase in the infections, with over 12-13 per cent growth advantage over the Omicron’s BA.2 sub-lineage.

Earlier this year, these subvariants of Omicron resulted to the rapid spread of the virus in the country.

Symptoms:

# Loss of smell and taste

# Sore throat

# Fever

# Problem in Breathing

Also, different strains of covid19 have different symptoms.

The cases of BA.4 and BA.5 have been identified and detected in several countries like South Africa, India and other countries.

According to the reports, it is said that BA.4 is present in Denmark, Switzerland, Australia, Austria, Belgium, UK, Germany, the Netherlands, US, Israel, Italy, Canada, France and Botswana.
