On the demise of Zain, CEO of Children’s Hospital, where the boy received much of his treatment said, ”Zail will be remembered for his eclectic taste in music, his bright sunny smile and the immense joy he brought to his family and all those who loved him.”

However, the sudden death of the young boy also raises a question — What is cerebral palsy?

What is Cerebral Palsy?

Cerebral palsy is a kind of disorder that affects a person’s ability to maintain balance and posture, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This is said to be the most common motor disability among children. The word cerebral is related to the brain while palsy means weakness to use muscles.

The disease stops the proper development of the human brain. Those who are suffering from severe CP may not walk without the help of special equipment.

Any person suffering from CP may develop comorbidities such as intellectual disability, seizures, problems with vision, hearing or speech, etc.

Types of Cerebral Palsy

There are mainly four types of CP:

1. Spastic Cerebral Palsy

2. Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy

3. Ataxi Cerebral Palsy

4. Mixed Cerebral Palsy

Treatment of Cerebral Palsy

It is important to note that there are treatments available that can improve the condition of the patient with Cerebral Palsy. However, there is no cure for CP that can help anyone to get rid of the disease.
