Women bond over antakshari in Mumbai metro for a good cause: Here’s Why

In order to offer women the feeling of safety when leaving the house, feminist movements have repeatedly taken back public areas.

New Delhi: Mumbai Metro just experienced a first. An antakshari session was disrupted by passengers. The general seating area and the ladies’ seating section were clearly divided into two teams, and after that, the entire compartment bonded over antakshari.

The Why Loiter Campaign launched an initiative that led to the antakshari session on the Mumbai Metro. Women’s rights activists launched a campaign in 2014 with the goal of reclaiming Mumbai’s public places for women through loitering. Why Loiter uploaded a video of this metro bonding activity to Instagram. The opposite team sings Wada Raha Sanam, and the women sing Laal Dupatta.

A student from Ghatkopar who resided in the post was also stated as having travelled all the way back to Versova to take part in the antakshari session. Every time we start singing, we anticipate hearing, “Stop making a noise! The message said, “I can’t hear my phone call, but it’s never happened.”

The public is ecstatic to see women retake public areas thanks to this initiative’s viral success. In order to offer women the feeling of safety when leaving the house, feminist movements have repeatedly taken back public areas.
