New Delhi: Legends League Cricket, season 2, has started to pick up the face as the results of the matches are getting more important day by day.
The 22-day-long tournament had already completed one-third of its journey on Thursday, when the Suresh Raina-led Urbanrisers Hyderabad took on the Gautam Gambhir-led and defending champions Indian Capitals, in match 5 of the tournament, at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.

The Indian Capitals skipper Gautam Gambhir won the toss and invited the Urbanrisers to bat first.
The Urbanrisers’ start was not ideal as they lost both their openers, Dwayne Smith (3) and Martin Guptill (2), inside the 10 runs mark.
However, Gurkeerat Singh (89) then went on to add 92 runs for the third wicket with skipper Suresh Raina (46), and 65 runs partnership with P Trego (36*) for the fourth wicket to take the final score of the innings to 189 for 5 in 20 overs.

Isuru Udana was the most successful bowler for the Indian Capitals, while Rusty Theron, Munaf Patel and KP Apanna took one wicket each.
The Indian Capitals started their chase in the most unfavourable manner when they lost their skipper Gautam Gambhir on the very first ball of the innings, Urbanrisers kept the pressure intact and sent 4 batsmen back into the pavilion before the 50 runs mark.

However, Kevin Pietersen (77), then tried to take his team over the mark with Ricardo Powell (26) and Ashley Nurse (41*), but eventually fell short by 3 runs, handing the Urbanrisers their second straight win.
With this win, Urbanrisers has retained their top spot in the points table and has taken one more step towards the final 4.
Meanwhile, Indian Capitals lost their second straight and the defending champions now need to win all their remaining matches to qualify for the final four.
