After missing T20 World Cup, Jasprit Bumrah shares heartfelt note on social media

Bumrah took on Twitter to share a heartfelt note as he tries to recover while the team prepares for the campaign.

New Delhi: India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah will not be a part of the side in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup due to an injury. Bumrah took on Twitter to share a heartfelt note as he tries to recover while the team prepares for the campaign. He said that he is ‘gutted’ that he will not be able to play in the T20 World Cup.

The bowler shared a picture in the Indian jersey and wrote, “I am gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup this time, but thankful for the wishes, care and support I’ve received from my loved ones. As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team through their campaign in Australia.”

There were speculations around Bumrah’s recovery and inclusion into the World Cup squad, BCCI cleared the air and announced that he would not be able to be a part of the tournament following the back injury. He injured his back just before India’s T20I series against South Africa began. Prior to this, he missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to an injury. He was shifted to NCA in Bengaluru, where the medical staff took due care.

This is a massive blow to India’s chances as Bumrah has an excellent track record in Australia. India will miss a hit-the-deck bowler who can move the ball both ways and can deliver yorkers in death overs. Apart from him, all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja will also be missing the tournament due to knee surgery. While Jadeja has been replaced by Axar Patel, BCCI is yet to announce the replacement for Bumrah. Deepak Chahar, who is currently in reserves, might get a chance into the squad, or there is an outside chance for Mohammed Shami as his express pace would be crucial in Australia.
