Both the thrilling semis saw the game turning at several points. In the first semi-finals, Australia posted a massive total of 172 but Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues fought back. It was Darcie Brown’s bowling, some unfortunate run-outs and Ellyse Perry’s fielding that eventually won Australia the game.

Similarly, no one expected the hosts to win against England, while they had the likes of Nat-Sciver Brunt chasing 165. Firstly, Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits’ fifties and 27* off 13 by Marizanne Kapp helped the Proteas to post 164 on the board and Anyabonga Khaka picking up three wickets in the 18th over led her team to a win.

Australia is the clear favourite due to its habit of winning ICC trophies. The Aussies also beat South Africa in their clash in this tournament. However, Brits was able to score some runs against Australia and with Marizanne Kapp’s power hitting they have a chance. A lot would depend on Shabnim Ismail and Khaka to turn yet another game for them.

Ashleigh Gardner with the form she is in, will be the player to look out for and is also likely to take the Player of the Tournament award.
