Awami League supporter former skipper of Bangladesh cricket team Mashrafe Mortaza’s house TORCHED by protesters

Mashrafe Mortaza’s house was caught in the crusade of Democracy after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country on Monday afternoon.

New Delhi: As things spiral out in our neighbouring country, Bangladesh supporters of Sheikh Hasina and her party Awami League have come under the radar of the protesting people. In this crusade for democracy, Bangladesh’s former captain of the national side, Mashrafe Mortaza found his house ravaged and plundered. Furthermore, according to the visuals, the former Bangladeshi captain’s house was ‘TORCHED’ by the protestors.

The video which was shared on social media has received a lot of criticism as well as support on social media. While Mashrafe’s house stood burning, a strange confusion gripped the entire social media. According to social media, it was believed that Litton Das’ house was torched rather than Mashrafe’s house.

Bangladesh has gained notoriety for retribution against the minorities and naturally in an air of confusion and chaos such a piece of news was bound to spread like wildfire. However, it was cleared by the netizens that it was Mashrafe’s house rather than Das’s house.

Why was Mortaza reprimanded?

Mashrafe Mortaza has led Bangladesh in 117 matches across formats which is also the most by any Bangladeshi captain. To add cherry on the top, Mashrafe had scalped 390 wickets and scored 2955 runs in 36 tests, 220 ODIs and 54 T20Is. This also in itself is a phenomenal record if talked about in terms of records and statistics.

A country which is so passionate about the game of cricket cannot possibly torch the house of one of its sporting legends. Then why did Mashrafe ‘s house become the scene of intense violence?

Mortaza joined Hasina’s Awami League and was elected as a member of the parliament from the Narail-2 Constituency. Naturally, Mortaza’s cricketing history did not help the former Bangladeshi cricketer to end on the favourable side of this conflict. As fire rages on in the streets of Dhaka, Hasina and her allies seek desperate asylum in neighbouring and far away countries.
