Babar Azam receives major boost in his professional career as Pakistan announces squad against Zimbabwe and Australia

After being sidelined for two Tests against England, former Pakistani skipper Babar Azam returns to the national side for the ODI series against Australia.

New Delhi: After the setback in red ball, former captain Babar Azam now faces a major boost in white ball as Pakistan announced squads for the upcoming Australia and Zimbabwe tours.  The chairman of the PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, will announce the new captains for the limited-overs formats later this afternoon at a media conference.

Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha are expected to be named the new white-ball skippers. The selectors have made some major decisions in an attempt to overhaul the overall squad of Pakistan by including new players in the side.

While Babar Azam got back in the white ball team, senior players like Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan missed out on selection. Fakhar missed out due to an inquiry from the PCB where he showed his support for Babar after the later was dropped from the England test. As for Shadab, the leg spinner has not been able to deliver promising results to convince the selectors to consider him.
