New Delhi: The match number 5, of the Big Bash League season 13, saw the Sydney Sixers winning their second match in a row to go at the top of the table, replacing the Brisbane Heats.

After two matches getting abandoned due to rain, the match between Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes, at the North Tasmania Cricket Association Ground in Launceston, finally produced a winner.

Earlier, the Hobart Hurricanes skipper Nathan Ellis won the toss and opted to bat first.

The Hurricanes started off with a flyer by adding 34 runs for the first wicket in just 15 balls, which was a great start where the average first innings total is 151.

However, as soon as Mathew Wade (11), was dismissed for the first wicket, except his opening partner, Caleb Jewell (42), no other hurricanes batsmen were able to cross the 20 runs mark, as strikers kept getting wickets at regular intervals, to stop the Hurricanes innings to 135 for 8 in 20 overs.

Tom Curran was the most successful bowler for the Sixers, with three wickets under his belt. Jack Edwards and Ben Dwarshuis got two wickets each, while Jackson Bird also got one wicket from himself.

In reply, the Sixers stumbled in the beginning as they lost both their openers, Josh Philippe (16) and James Vince (5), very cheaply.

However, Daniel Hughes (60*), first with skipper Moises Henriques (20), added 47 runs for the third wicket and with Jordan Silk (23), added 39 runs for the fourth wicket, to his team over the line in the match with 6 wickets and 4 balls to spare, and also Sixers to the top of the table with 4 points.

Corey Anderson was the most successful Hurricane in the bowling, with two wickets under his belt. Riley Meredith and skipper Nathan Ellis also got one wicket each.
