BBL 2023: The match between Sydney Thunders and Sydney Sixers became the third match of the season to end in no contest due to rain.

New Delhi: Australia’s Big Bash League, season 13, race for the final four is getting twisted and twisted, as except for the teams, the rain is also dictating the flow of the season.

The match between Sydney Thunders and Sydney Sixers on Saturday became the third match of the season to end in a no-contest due to rain.

Match number 19 of the season, between two teams of Sydney, i.e., Sixers and Thunders, which was scheduled to take place at the Sydney Showground Stadium in Sydney, became the latest victim of the rain gods as both the teams were forced to share points in the end.

Earlier, Sydney Thunders skipper Chris Green won the toss and opted to bat first.

Thunders’ start was a nightmare as they lost their first three wickets inside the 50 runs mark in the form of Cameron Bancroft (6), Kohler Cadmore (4) and Oliver Davis (15).

Alex Hales (26) tried to get going but was also removed by Jack Edwards, reducing Thunders to 54 for 4.

Alex Ross (44) and Daniel Sams (30) then added quick 70 runs for the fifth wicket, but the Thunders were unable to finish on high and only managed to post 151 for 7 in 20 overs on the board.

Jack Edwards was the most successful bowler for the Sixers, with his impressive spell of 3 for 34 in four overs.

In reply, the Sixers lost their first wicket, in the form of Josh Philippe (11), cheaply.

James Vince (8*) and Kurtis Patterson (13*) were taking the innings forward when the rain interrupted the match at the four overs mark, with the Sixers having 34 for one on the board.

The rain continued till the cut-off time, forcing the match to be called off only six balls away from producing a legitimate result.

Thunders’ skipper Chris Green was the only successful bowler with one wicket under his belt.
