New Delhi: In a bizarre turn of events, West Indian head coach Darren Sammy has blasted away fast bowler Alzarri Joseph after the latter displayed rude behaviour on the field during the 3rd ODI between England and West Indies. Joseph’s actions, which included leaving the field after a disagreement with Captain Shai Hope, were publicly criticized by Sammy.

The incident occurred in the fourth over when Joseph expressed frustration with Hope over a field placement. Despite taking the wicket of England’s Jordan Cox caught behind, Joseph did not celebrate with his team. Head coach, Darren Sammy was visibly upset by the entire incident which unfolded on the field.

Speaking about the importance of sportsmanship and culture within the team, Sammy remarked:

We will be friends…but in the culture I’m trying to build, that’s unacceptable. We will definitely have a chat about that….

Subsequently, Joseph briefly returned to the pitch at the beginning of the sixth over. However, the frustration seemed to persist. After two misfields off his bowling, which led to overthrows, he once again left the field. In the end, although he resumed bowling later in the innings, the fast bowler finished with the figure of 2/45 from his quota of 10 overs. Joseph’s bowling turned out to be a decent one. However, his visible discontent overshadowed his performance.
