Commonwealth Games 2022 (Day 7) India Schedule, Updates: Indian men’s hockey team advances to semis after crushing Wales 4-1

New Delhi: It was a good outing for the Indian athletes on day 6 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. India won five medals including one silver and four bronze. With Tejaswin Shankar creating history with a bronze in the high jump, the medals have started to pour in the track and field events.

Indian hockey team made it to the semis in style after Harmanpreet scored a hattrick and India defeated Wales 4-1.

On day 7, Indian athletes will be playing four medal events in two sports, namely, para-powerlifting and athletics. Manpreet Kaur and Sakeena Kahtun ended in 4th and 5th place respectively. Indian star sprinter Hima Das made it to the semi-finals of 200 m as she clocked 23.42s in Heat 2. On the other hand, Murali Sreeshankar and Muhammed Anees Yahiya will be jumping for the medal in the Men’s Long Jump finals.

Boxers Amit Panghal, Jasmine and Sagar fought to win a place in the semis, which will confirm a medal for them. It was also a big day for racket sports as well. After Sourav Ghosal brought home a historic bronze, squash was an event to watch out for. On the other hand, India’s star shuttles PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth won comfortably in the singles matches.
