
New Delhi: K-pop star and BTS band member Jeon Jungkook is set to perform at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Big Hit Entertainment, the agency handling BTS, tweeted and confirmed the news. The opening ceremony will be held on November 20 at the Al Bayt Stadium.
Jungkook was also recently spotted at the Qatar airport and according to the reports, the pop star was shooting for a new music video. However, no official details of this new project are revealed currently. He is also known to have contributed to the FIFA World Cup 2022 track ‘Light the Sky’.

Jugkook last released ‘My You’ in June 2022 to mark the ninth anniversary of BTS while this year after the band members went ahead for their individual careers, the singer collaborated with Charlie Puth in the song ‘Left and Right’.
Celebs Nora Fatehi and Shakira are also expected to be performing at the opening ceremony. Bollywood’s dancing diva and actor Nora Fatehi starred in the soundtrack ‘Light the Sky’ and is also part of the line-up performing at the FIFA Fan Festival. On the other hand, global star and singer Shakira sang the popular ‘Waka Waka’ FIFA anthem in 2010 and is expected to perform in Qatar. Meanwhile, singing sensation Dua Lipa confirmed that would not be performing at the event.
The FIFA World Cup opening ceremony will begin at 7:30 pm IST on November 20. The first game between Qatar and Ecuador will start at 9:30 pm IST at the Al Bayt Stadium.
