FIFA World Cup 2022: Kenyan man goes viral for showing way to Doha Metro (WATCH)

Abubakr Abbas wore a reflector jacket, had a foam finger in his hand which was pointing towards the Metro Station and he sat on a tennis umpire’s chair to help the fans visiting the market of Souq Waqif.

New Delhi: A man from Kenya showing the way towards Metro in Qatar during the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 went viral on the internet. 23-year-old Abubakr Abbas sat and showed fans the way towards the Doha Metro Station. FIFA World Cup’s official Twitter handle also shared his picture after Abbas went viral for his unique gesture.

Abubakr Abbas wore a reflector jacket, had a foam finger in his hand which was pointing towards the Metro Station and he sat on a tennis umpire’s chair to help the fans visiting the market of Souq Waqif. He held a mic in his hand and said, “Metro? This way,” while hundreds of football fans recorded his video on their mobile phones. Fans love him and Abbas is now known as the ‘Metro man’.

Doha metro

The background of the ‘Metro man’ is not known yet apart from the fact that he is from Kenya and is a popular face on the social media app TikTok. After he went viral in Qatar, Abbas also posted a video on TikTok saying that he thought to engage the fans passing by in Doha and this is when he came up with the idea of showing the way towards Metro. He also said that the task could have been boring which is why he used other troped to make it interesting.

He managed to catch everyone’s attention and now fans are watching the games and also coming to meet him. While La’eeb is the mascot for the Qatar World Cup, Abubakr Abbas has become the uncrowned mascot of Doha Metro.
