Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashraf rubbishes claims of Babar vs Masood controversy

Former PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf has cleared the confusion that existed in the dressing room of Pakistan between Babar Azam and Shan Masood.

New Delhi: After a shambolic performance on the field, the Pakistan team is now infested with a whole new controversy that has trespassed the dressing room. Usually, dressing room controversies and gossip are a great way to understand the team’s mood.

However, that same discussion can become the breeding ground for rumours and half-truths. These things prove detrimental, especially at a time when the national team is not performing properly. The same thing is happening in the Pakistani cricket dressing room with former captain Babar Azam and current captain Shan Masood allegedly embroiled in a feud.

Masood who is struggling with his poor captaincy which cost him the game in both tests has too many things on his plate to sort out. As such these outlandish fake claims can prove to be detrimental both for the team and the captain. Shan has been supported by the former PCB Chairman, Zaka Ashraf who has rubbished all these fake claims.

Zaka Ashraf clears the air of controversy

The former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman has, however, called these claims a hoax assuring the fans that everything is going well in the Pakistani dressing room and all the rumours about the alleged feud between Shan and Babar are only hearsay. Talking about the alleged rumours of the fight, Ashraf remarked the following-

No, the unity didn’t end (after removing Babar Azam as captain). In fact, the unity improved. When we told him to play as a player, which is his talent, but as a captain, his performance is not good, he agreed.

Furthermore, Ashraf added that Shan was very well-behaved even after the fact that Babar was handed the T20 captaincy role. Meanwhile, Ashraf also justified his decision to appoint Shan and Muhammad Hafeez as the team director. Justifying his decision, Ashraf remarked-

Hafeez is “a very honest man” and no, there was no grouping. The team was good. And, we brought Shan Masood as the captain….
