Amidst the build-up to the T20 World Cup 2024, Nassau County Cricket Stadium is also making its debut in a major ICC event.

New Delhi: Amidst the build-up to the T20 World Cup 2024, Nassau County Cricket Stadium is making its debut in a major ICC event. India who have been in flawless form and entered the tournament as the No. 1 T20 team are one of the strong candidates to win the silverware.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been impressed with the stadium from the first looks. The Indian skipper also hopes that all the fans who will pour in numbers will have a great time at the venue.

The Men in Blue take on Bangladesh in their only warm-up game on June 1st. Post that the Indian team will take on Ireland, Pakistan and the USA at the Nassau Stadium. However, for the final group stage match against Canada, Rohit and co. will have to travel to Lauderhill, Florida.

…Hopefully it’s gonna be a good one…”- Rohit Sharma

Praising the engineering genius of the stadium, Sharma said “People in New York will be very interested in coming and watching the World Cup, with the World Cup happening for the first time here…..” The surreal experience of New York and the Nassau Stadium has been enticing to the Indian skipper.

Sharma was also quick to praise the open swathes of land that give the stadium a more “Open” feeling rather than the usual compactness that is found in Indian stadiums. Sharma further adds, “I’m pretty sure all the fans…looking forward to the tournament..”

Nassau Cricket Stadium was built only in three months. However, the first impressions and robust structure fail to make the time duration evident. The Nassau Cricket Stadium which has a capacity of 34,000 people will be hosting its maiden match on the 3rd of June between Sri Lanka and South Africa. With cricket slowly making its way back into the States, can it once again make it relevant amongst NBAs and the NFLs?
