New Delhi: Bangladesh has given many lives to Indian batters with drop catches and missed chances, but Shubman Gill got another chance due to an issue with the DRS. During day 3 of the first Test match between India and Bangladesh, Gill was given not out while batting on 70 and the hosts could not take a review as the ball tracking was not available.
Shubman Gill settled well on the crease and India got a massive lead, Bangladesh’s problems increased when the third umpire said that DRS is not available. Yasir Ali’s ball in the 32nd over pitched outside off and went on to hit Gill’s pads with a sharp turn. Yasir was convinced that it was out and convinced his captain to take a review, just to get disappointed.
After some disappointment, the hosts had to resume the game. At the time of the incident, India stood in a comfortable position with 111/1 and Gill and Pujara batting on the wicket. Shubman Gill is batting well and playing his shots to head towards his maiden Test century. On the other side, Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored 90 runs in the first inning, has got a good start with 14* off 31 balls.
With Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel picking a wicket each in the morning, Bangladesh was restricted to 150 runs and India took a massive lead of 254 runs. With 111 runs on board, India has taken a lead of 365 runs. Captain KL Rahul chose not to go for the follow-on and took a rather conventional approach to have Bangladesh bat in the fourth inning of the game.
