IND vs BAN 2nd Test: Ashwin-Pujara discuss their game plan after thrilling victory (WATCH)

After Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer saved the second Test, following the tradition of a player interviewing another, Pujara and Ashwin came for the activity for BCCI.

New Delhi: Ravichandran Ashwin, Player of the Match in Mirpur and Cheteshwar Pujara, Player of the Series, had a fun conversation after the game. Following the 2-0 series victory over Bangladesh, Ashwin and Pujara cherished the moment and discussed their game plan. After Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer saved the second Test, following the tradition of a player interviewing another, Pujara and Ashwin came for the activity for BCCI.

Talking about the partnership with Iyer, Ashwin said that there were not many batters behind but Shreyas had a ‘great composure’ and they decided to chase the score between them. About the catch dropped by Mominul Haque, he said that he needed to push with his defence and they got the acceleration at the right time. When Pujara questioned Ashwin about his batting intent, Ashwin replied that he rates his defence strongly, he added that the ‘aerial route’ looks entertaining but Test is played with a defence under pressure.

Ashin went on to question Pujara about playing the sweep shot and he replied that he has been working on it for the last two years and white-ball cricket for Sussex and Saurashtra has helped him. India will next play a Test match series against Australia at home, talking about the same Ashwin said that they have played an ‘unbelievably electric’ series against the Aussies and he is looking forward to it.

In the game, Ashwin scored 42* off 62 balls with Shreyas Iyer scoring 29* off 46 to chase the score of 145 runs. When Ashwin came in to bat, India stood at 74/7 and their 71-run partnership led India to a 2-0 victory and a strong hold on the second spot in the WTC rankings. Ashwin also picked six wickets and the game and earned the Player of the Match award.
